Abstract

In the past seasons of fieldwork in Deir al-Surian more and more details of the architecture of the church have come to light, so that now there is a fairly reliable image of how the building was modified and remodeled over the centuries. This is important information in relation to the chronology and development of the painted decoration of the church. This paper will present the most recent outcomes of the research project “A Cross-section in Time, The Church of the Holy Virgin Deir al-Surian”.
