Abstract

In this paper I seek to show how internal and external quotations and references contained in late antique law books (authors’ works and commentaries) use somewhat recurrent expressions, which presuppose not so much the circulation of standard editions of the best-known texts, but rather a shared and widespread practice of teaching and teaching vocabulary, interesting for reconstructing also the layout of the books mentioned.
